Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story, and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? Kshitij Kapil and I, with whom I created the story, set out to develop a feature-esque concept that could be told in a short form. We also wanted to tell a story about grief through the eyes of a child while exploring the dynamics of a father-son relationship. Additionally, our fascination with science fiction played a significant role in shaping the narrative. How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? I went through a lot of yellow notepads and constantly took notes. Kshitij and I also spent hours talking about ways in which we could take the story. From there, we wrote an outline before writing a first draft. What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? Ultimately, I aspire to one day create stories with a big IP that are well-known for years to come. I would also love to get to a point where I can write roles for specific A-listers, knowing they'll be taking the job. Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or "the first ten pages"? Why did you make that choice? Our script is short, and we submitted our blue draft. Shortly before, we wrote the first draft and made some revisions before submitting the script. It was a little risky submitting a blue draft, but ultimately, since we're filming it this year, we wanted to see if the story was speaking to audiences. What's your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? This changes all the time for me… I guess my favorite movie at this point in time is Titanic. At its core, Titanic is a simple story told on a grand scale with a relatable theme of love and charming performances. Ultimately, I dream of creating something on as grand of a scale as Titanic. My favorite TV show is Better Call Saul. The character development throughout this show is outstanding. Not to spoil much, but I never once imagined I would go from hating Howard Hamlin to caring deeply for him. Also, what I love about this show is that each character faces the consequences of their actions. What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Be passionate about the story you are trying to tell! Try to write something you yourself would love to see. What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I’m working as an Associate Producer at Justice Central TV. I love my job and enjoy getting to produce for our nine-court shows!
