Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Country: Anguilla
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I wanted to write a story that the audience can relate to, so I found it fitting to write about coping with the loss of a loved one. I recently experienced loss and was able to use those emotions to write my script. I love watching movies. I chose to write a script instead of a short story or novel because I would prefer to have the opportunity to see my story in motion on the big screen.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took approximately two weeks to complete the first draft of my short film script. I usually create an outline to determine how the story will flow. I determine the personalities of my characters. Then I proceed to start my first draft.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? My goal is to have my stories produced and shown in the cinemas. I would love to have a successful career as a screenwriter. I wish to use my creative writing skills to entertain a wide audience with captivating stories.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? My entry was a full script. My reason for entering a full script was to take full advantage of the invaluable feedback that is offered by the Wiki Screenplay Contest. I wanted my script to be analyzed in its entirety.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? My all-time favorite movie is Beetlejuice, which was released in 1988. I like this movie because it was scary but comical, and it also included catchy musical entertainment. There were no dull moments in this movie. I was entertained from the beginning to the end.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? My advice is do not give up. Keep working on improving your skill. The more you write the better you will become. Be open to receiving feedback, and use that feedback as a tool to improve.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I will revisit three of my feature film scripts.
Conger Eel (action, adventure, comedy)
Rainbow Gems (action, adventure, comedy)
Silk-Stocking (dramedy)
I also plan to continue writing short film scripts.
