JACK SHERRY

portrait of screenwriter Jack Sherry from Vero Beach for The Wiki Screenplay Contest Writers Showcase
Where do you live (City, State, or Country)?
Vero Beach, FL

Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your
story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel?

I met Capt. Fred Head who told me the basics of his true story.

How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you
outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN?

The first draft for this script was written 10 years ago.

What is your ultimate ambition as a writer?
Have a movie produced.

Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”?
Why did you make that choice?

Full Script. I appreciate the judges' feedback.

What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why?
Back to the Future.

What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you
have?

Pay attention to the feedback.

What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
HAPPY ANNIVORCERY - 106 pages  (Dramedy) When Mom is so happy that she has been divorced for an entire year, she throws a party celebrating the anniversary, but her daughter conspires to get Dad invited and back into the picture, much to the dismay of her mother's new ambulance-chasing lawyer boyfriend and his cast of conspiring confederates.

PIPE DREAMS -  110 pages (Action Thriller)  A grieving female CIA analyst goes undercover on a mission to stop a Frenchman from smuggling uranium to Iran, only to become a pawn for Saudi Arabia when it attacks Iran and allows the U.S. and Israel to be blamed.

REALITY SUCKS – 96 pages (Drama) When a documentary film team produces a reality show by offering their shy audio man as a husband to the internet-savvy women of the world, they unwittingly enlist a Colombian black widow seductress whose specialty is luring men from America to smuggle heroin into the U.S.

THE REASON WHY –  103 pages (Drama)  When a lawyer who clerks for a D.C Judge learns she will inherit his waterfront condo, she visits the site to discover that not only is she his daughter, but the judge's son is actually not related to him at all. They join forces to stop an eminent domain action against the condominium complex.

KENNEL CLUB – (Romantic Comedy) 90 pages.  Cheers meets Hitch at the dog park. A financially-strapped owner of a dog grooming business secretly rents out the dogs left to be groomed to socially-inept members of her chess club so they can walk them to meet women.
