Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Ocean Shores, WA (USA)
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I write stores mostly about intelligent adventurous children. I was thinking about stories like Lord of the Flies and films like Logan’s Run when I conceived this one. How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? I think about the story and the characters for quite a long time, when I start writing, things go pretty fast. I’d say I had the part I submitted down in roughly an hour. What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? I’d like to be a produced writer before I become the van Gogh of screenwriting. Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? This one was the first ten because I’m still not happy with eleven onward. I’ll get there. What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Really, really hard to isolate just one. But if forced to, I’d say The Americans. Quite well-drawn characters and the threat of discovery exists in every second of screen time. What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing. Keep entering. Keep learning. What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? A feature film and an animated family TV series.
