Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Fresno, Ca
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I am inspired to tell this story because I am a survivor of similar situations portrayed within my script “I Didn’t Know.” I learned first-hand what it took to have someone control my life and not know how to change it until I accepted God. to be my strength. I saw a lot of things that went on in the lives of others, that brought me to my knees, the pain in the homes of those who wanted a change but didn’t know how are where to start. One day sitting in my room reading I saw visions of my script. I was locked in where it became my breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I would wake up in the night writing non-stop. As I wrought the pain of reality set in, I heard God say this book is the movie that I give you to share with the people.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took me years to realize that I needed to break my book up and bring it alive, I didn’t know where are how to start. I began to pray, and it was like heaven revealed itself and I was able to break it up and see the visual that lay inside the pages. I didn’t understand the format at first, I wrote it in old school and found out I was in the wrong place. And I was introduced to Final Draft which gave me every tool I needed to create my script “I Didn’t Know”. It took me a total of ten years to get here today. It was a memorable task.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? Today my goal is to share with this new generation what to do when faced with obstacles. This will enable us to give back to those who may be lost with my script, “I Didn’t Know.” I love to wright and help motivate and strengthen those that need understanding. I am the author of five books: 1. Testimony of a new girl, “Satan you did not still my joy, “which is based on a true story. 2. “New Direction of a Sole Survivor.” 3. “I Didn’t Know” is based on my previously written book, “Tree’s Gift.” 4. The Foundation of a New Beginning. “Life-changing study book” 5. Self-Evaluation of why you’re here “Volume 1#”
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? My entry to the Wiki Screenplay Contest was a full script. I made this choice because I was on a need-to-know basis if my script was worth sharing.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? My all-time favorite movie is “Field of Dreams”. I love what was said to Kevin Costner, if you build it, they will come and he built it and they came his not giving up, gave me strength to believe.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? My advice to writers is to never give up on your dreams of writing, one day it will pay off, as you learn new techniques. Sometimes holding out will allow you to add more things you didn’t see when you first began to wright. So, keep going.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I am working on a script that I see as a series. Allowing the world to see the choices that dictate the attitudes of others. Giving them an understanding of what choices can bring into their lives. How real lifelong choices have governed the lives of our world, good or bad?
