Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Jefferson City, TN
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? Both of my screenplays were real stories that I found in newspaper articles. I’m always looking for a story that grabs the heart. If it doesn’t move me it probably won’t move judges.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? From beginning to end all scripts take about 6 months to take it through all the steps.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? I want to see it on the big screen and make a lot of money. Oh, I forgot world peace.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? It was a full script. Sometimes the best part of a script is after 10 pages. I’m not a big fan of 10 page judging.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Favorite movie…Mary Poppins. I like happy feel good movies. Favorite television show. American Idol. A good place to root for the little guy.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Get good advice. Be willing to spend a lot of money to get it right. Know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em!
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? Wouldn’t you like to know! Nobody ever hears or sees my stuff till it’s ready.
