Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Los Angeles, CA
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? My boyfriend and I take annual ski trips. After one of our visits to Mammoth we drove through a small town called Ash Creek, it looked straight out of a movie. I felt so inspired driving through it, the concept for Gold Mine No. 3 popped into my head and I began writing almost as soon as we got home. I wrote a short script because I wanted to test the waters, see if people find the story intriguing before developing it into a bigger project!
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took a couple of days because I am the type of person that once I am focused on something I can't think of anything else but that! I personally am a big fan of post it notes, same process as index cards but I am able to stick to the wall.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? There’s several young actresses who I really admire; Cailee Spaeny, Mikey Madison, Taylor Russell… I think they are incredibly talented and I would be honored to have them play characters written by me. My ultimate goal is to work with artists I respect and look up to.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? Full script, my story was ready and I felt like it was strong enough!
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Titane is a masterpiece in my eyes, I can’t think of a better script. It’s defiant, fresh, incredibly creative and in the end it manages to even be heartwarming. I know it’s not for everyone but it truly checks all the boxes for me.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Don’t listen to the voice inside your head telling you to write another draft, if you feel in your heart that it's done, then it is! It’s so easy to get caught in the endless cycle of editing, just remind yourself that perfection is not what makes stories great.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I am currently developing Gold Mine No. 3 into a feature length script, fingers crossed it all goes well!
