Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? I’m from Liverpool, UK.
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I have authored a book years ago for fun called 14,000 Words That Will Change Your Life, but in Dec 2025 I decided to write a screenplay as I have been bored of what is on TV, so I thought I would write something. It turns out I have a knack for it. I based ‘The Gardener’ around my life just with a bit more jokes. Then ‘Salem and Star’ which also placed with you - an animation I wrote based on how I met my girlfriend.
How long did it take you to write your script... and what is your writing process? Do you outline... use index cards... white board... or just start with FADE IN? I just sit in the garden where I’m currently feeding mice and a large rat, they stare at me. I pick up a pen and just write. Once I’ve got an idea I don’t stop until it’s finished, I believe the pen to be powerful and if you quiet your mind, you can connect and just write.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? My ambition is to win awards in every category, I want the world to see my writing on screens and TV and know I wrote it, learn from it, laugh from it and hopefully it can make some positive changes. I want to bring back comedy as it should be, which is to shock and entertain audiences… I will not be one of these pipe smoking people wearing a tweed jacket - I want to change writing and make it as it should be… powerful.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? My entry was the full script for ‘The Gardener’ and ‘Salem and Star.’ I made the choice as I wanted to see what you guys thought, I started writing Dec 2025 so since then I’ve won 16 awards and more to come hopefully. The main goal is to see what each screenplay competition thinks, as I like feedback.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show... and why? Braveheart as it was a true story and when men fought for love and justice, fought against oppression, and you could not of made that movie any better. Favorite TV show would be Faulty Towers as… it’s genius, and I want to bring back that style of comedy.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing but don’t lose yourself trying to be what other people want, take the feedback maybe change some things, but do not rewrite your script if you believe in it. Before anything was ever invented, there were doubts and people shouting, up until they caught up with what actually needed to be done… which was something new unless you want to write like everyone else?? Me personally I don’t. I want something new, from me.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
Children’s animation done and out there. (winning awards)
10 episodes in Dark comedy done and out there. (winning awards)
TV miniseries which is a mystery thriller done and out there. (sent out last week)
I have just finished something which has not ever been done in writing since Monty Python, so I’m keen to see the reaction. As I said I’m going to write in every category, and I want each screenplay to stand out and be timeless. Any agents or anyone in the industry that can help I’m all ears, as sending emails to these guys with a generic response really hurts my head. I am new to this so I can’t imagine the number of great writers who just get ignored, it must be a lot. So, I need my writing in-front of the right people as I think its going to change movies and TV forever. PS…. GET ME AN AGENT ON THE PHONE LOL.
