Where do you live (City, State, or Country)?
I live in Canada.

Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel?
My inspiration for writing “A LIFT TO HELL” was that, after writing ten feature length screenplays and five TV Pilots, I had not written a low budget Horror Feature. With the Box Office success of “Blair Witch Project”, “Obsession”, and “Backrooms”, I thought I should add this genre to my list of Feature projects.

How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN?
It took me two months to write “A LIFT TO HELL”. I start with FADE IN and keep writing. If I get a “good idea” at a time I’m not at my computer, I jot it down on a notepad and leave it on my computer desk.

What is your ultimate ambition as a writer?
My ultimate ambition as a writer is to have one of my projects produced.

Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice?
I had previously entered my first ten pages for other scripts and then resubmitted the full script. I decided it was more efficient to enter the whole script.

What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why?
My favorite TV series is “MAD MEN”. I love the detail in terms of costumes and set design to convey each of the eras from the past. The characters are excellent. The dialogue is amazing with a lot of subtext and subtle humor.

What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have?
I would tell them to trust their own voice.

What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
I am working on a feature length Psychological Thriller called “STAR BULLY”. Comp: “All About Eve” (1950) starring Bette Davis which won multiple awards. “STAR BULLY” braids three time periods—Ancient Greece, 1950’s Hollywood, and present day Hollywood. The ancient Greece legend of Orpheus and Eurydice is the inspiration for a 1950’s movie called “THE SINGING HEAD”. The star of the movie
is CARMEN (28) who resents having to work with OLIVER (31), a literal “singing head”. Carmen would prefer to co-star with EUARDO (32), her handsome Latin Lover. Sadly, someone kills Eduardo and the mystery of who murdered him is never solved. A modern-day group of method acting students become interested in the unsolved mystery.
