Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Orange County, CA
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I kept thinking about how we will soon be living in a world where everyone from World War II will be dead. Is it too late to find justice for those responsible? And what if justice and doing what's right are two separate things? That ticking clock became the backdrop to the script of HIDDEN. I’m also drawn to modern-day thrillers that explore generational trauma from events in the past. Even though the story was fictional it was important that all the historical details were accurate. It had to feel real.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took about six months. I work from instinct, but I had the three-act structure and the ending twist locked before I wrote a word. The whole script was built for that final moment.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? To have my scripts produced into feature films. I’m particularly interested in writing thriller & horror films.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? This script was built on the ending so I knew I had to submit the whole script.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? My favorite film is Cameron Crowe’s Say Anything & my favorite TV show is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Both were big inspirations for me. Say Anything has arguably the greatest romantic lead in film history and Buffy masterfully combined multiple genres but always put character first.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Writing is rewriting. Don’t submit until you’ve rewritten your script multiple times. And even after you enter be prepared to do it again. And again.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I’m currently rewriting THE BURIED, a supernatural horror film about a Salem Witch Trial curse and LEGACY, an action thriller about a President who takes the White House hostage.
