Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Reno Nevada (The Biggest Little City in the World)
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? After reading the book I concluded this was the best concept I had ever heard. I quickly gained the rights to the book.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took me 6 months to write Lethal Intervention. My process is to formulate my beginning, middle & end, do my research (where you get lots of dialogue) and start writing. You're only as good as your last rewrite so I keep polishing until I'm satisfied with the final draft.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? I have written 24 features and 4 TV pilots. My ultimate goal is to make as many movies as I can before I turn 100. I love telling stories people want to hear.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? Because of the great concept I chose to enter the full script. Also, because of the Wiki pros I entered their contest first. I thought I had something special and after the Wiki pros agreed I'm sure of it!
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Back to the Future because it has all the key elements " including product placement " you want in a great, timeless story.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing. If you are a true story teller keep telling stories. There are big and little stories everywhere if you look. I wrote my 1st script 35 years ago and it sucked. But a good concept was there and I kept writing. In 2022 I won 3 contests with 3 different scripts in 3 different genres. Now, a million rewrites later I just want people like the Wiki pros to help me across the finish line.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? With 24 features and 4 TV pilots in the queue waiting to be discovered I just want to introduce my stories to all that will read them and help me get on the silver screen or my 75 inch Sony tv.
