Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? I currently live in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? One day a thought popped into my head: what would happen if my daughter’s biological father suddenly asked her for an organ? I knew there was something with that idea. I dropped the script I was working on and started brainstorming. Eventually, it became A Long Hard Road. This story works best on screen, it carries emotional tension, conflict, and visual storytelling that belong in a feature film.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? The script took about five months to complete, from outlining with index cards to finishing the latest draft. I start by mapping out scenes on cards, making sure the story flows naturally. If dialogue ideas come up, I jot them down on the back of the cards. Once the structure feels right, I move on to writing the script itself.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? To share my stories with the world and see them come to life on screen.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? I submitted a full script. I want my work to be judged as a complete story, not just by its opening.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Analyze This. To me, it’s a brilliant mix of comedy and heart. It balances seriousness and parody perfectly, and I love how vulnerable and human Paul Vitti is beneath his tough exterior.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing and keep polishing. This craft is all about learning by doing. Each draft gets you closer to the version that works.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? The Dating Pool. It’s a raunchy comedy about a man in his 40s who becomes single after catching his wife cheating. He has to dive back into modern dating after 25 years of marriage, and the results are awkward, messy, and hilarious.
