Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Pelham, NY
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I wanted to write a sports drama that had characters that the audience would connect with.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? The first draft of the script took about two months to write. I always start the process by outlining the story and then drilling down on my characters and their background, goals, and their individual voice.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? I would love one of screenplays to be optioned by a production company. Until that happens, I am going to keep writing.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? I entered the full script as I wanted the judges to be able to read the entire script.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? “The Godfather,” Rocky” “Lonesome Dove,” “The West Wing,” and “NYPD Blue.”
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing and keep submitting your work to contests that you know have a solid reputation.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? Over the past few months, I have written my second short screenplay and am working on another action screenplay.
