Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel?
As a Korean adoptee raised in Denmark, questions of identity have always fascinated me. Following a particularly stressful period in my life during the pandemic, I found myself once again reflecting deeply on those questions — and out of that came the characters in Evenfall. The concept of carbon quotas, meanwhile, grew out of my interest in sustainability and emerging technology.

Why a script?
While the story is emotionally driven and rooted in inner conflict, it’s also highly propulsive, with cinematic action and atmospheric visuals, and I felt the scale of the world would be conveyed most powerfully through moving images, sound, and performance.

How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN?
I first came up with the characters and overall premise of Evenfall back in 2022, when I wrote a synopsis and maybe two-thirds of a first draft, but then I put it aside to focus on another script and didn’t return to complete a full draft until two years later. Since then, I’ve put it aside for shorter periods to come back to it with fresh eyes before revising it based on feedback — lots of feedback. I want the script to reach its full potential, so I’ll probably continue seeking feedback and revising it.

What is your ultimate ambition as a writer?
My ultimate ambition is for my characters and stories to captivate, inspire, comfort, and give people something to reflect on. I would love to see what I’ve imagined — characters, emotions, and action — brought to life on screen and to entertain and touch audiences the same way so many films have entertained and touched me.

Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice?
I sent in a full script because my main purpose for entering the contest was to receive the very valuable feedback that the Wiki Screenplay Contest provides ��

What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why?
If I must pick just one movie, it’s The Matrix. I simply love the blend of high-concept sci-fi, cool action, humor, and even a bit of romance. On top of that, the cinematography, soundtrack, pacing, and rhythm are all exceptionally well executed. Beyond that, some of the themes and ideas actually struck something in me. That’s when action and sci-fi are at their best — when they’re not only very entertaining, but also linger with you long after.

What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have?
Keep revising, keep getting feedback, and stay open to notes. But also hold on to the elements that made you fall in love with your story and characters in the first place. Don’t sacrifice the heart of the story, but strive to elevate everything around it to make it reach its full potential.

What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
I’ve also been working on a K-drama-inspired, genre-blending action-romance-suspense feature that’s a more personal project for me. It’s called Made in Korea? and follows an adopted woman who just wants to be Danish, but to save her start-up, she must travel to Korea, where she discovers that the chaebol heir controlling her company’s fate is her uncle — and the man who killed her birth father over the family inheritance.
