Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Culver City, Ca.
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? The Heart of a Feather is dear to my heart, because of my own serious issues with depression in my Teens and beyond. I hope it gets made one day and gives hope to others facing similar conflicts.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? This project took approximately a year in total to reach this form. I actually do not use outlines et al. I, however, do a lot of work in my head. The idea evolves daily during my morning workouts either in the gym or on the beach. It is a very fluid process that involves a lot of editing. I constantly use the audio tool on Final Draft to hear back my work as I write it.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? To see my work produced and share the joy I had in creating the projects.
Which film or television writers inspire you? Why? I am inspired mostly by Directors. The work of Steven Speilberg, Rob Reiner, Ron Howard and Robert Zemekis come to mind. Their best work effortlessly mixed magic and realism.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? The Godfather. The West Wing.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Your story is never finished. It can always be better. Take a longish break and revisit it with fresh eyes. And remember that your story is there to support your Characters, not the other way around.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? (be sure to include any links you want the world to check out) Coverfly has all my work. I am particularly proud of Fire Keeper.
