Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Florida!
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I have always loved carnivals and felt that there was a lack of true horror carnival related stories. Writing the script was a no brainer for me since I want to develop the next generation of horror.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took me about two months to fully write this script. I journal all my ideas and thoughts down then see how I can best translate into a captivating story. My trick is to figure out the open and the ending then decide how do we get there.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? To not only develop movies/TV show, but completely transform the horror genre as we know it.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? It was a full script, I had the utmost confidence in my first ten pages and wanted to see how others thought the story played out.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? “The Ring” is my all-time favorite movie as it is what got me into horror from the beginning. Watching it with my Mom as a kid and sharing stories with her has developed my love for film.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Don't be closed off to advice. I've wrote certain things I thought were great and others didn't understand. It is important to be a student of the game and always strive to grow in your craft. Lastly, cliche, don't stop pushing your story.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I have two horror features, a sci-fi feature, and animated children's feature in the works!
