Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? Philadelphia suburbs
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? First and foremost, a love of baseball in its purest form. And then, marrying that world to the conflicting theme of social media addiction. Our writing partnership focuses exclusively on screenplays as that format allows us to convey our ideas in a more visual way. Fielder's Choice is the 5th script that we have written together.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took a few years. Fielder's Choice started out as a pilot. Then, we stepped away from it for a bit, until ultimately deciding to turn our script into a feature. Craig calls me and says, "here's your scene: You are pacing back and forth in your kitchen, talking out loud to yourself, and saying "I can't believe it, they’re closing in on me like......(pause) I say, like what? Craig says, "I don't know. You come up with something and make it funny." I say, in a panic stricken way, "they're closing in on me like Chris Christie on a donut." (Laughter)
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? To sell one of our screenplays or get the funding to make it ourselves.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? Fielder's Choice is a completed, polished screenplay so entering it into the “full script” category was a no-brainer for us.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Too many to name but our favorite baseball films are The Natural, A League Of Their Own, and Major League.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Writing is rewriting.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? We are currently working on a script titled, The Mozzarella Loophole. It's about the merry mishaps of an organized crime lawyer.
