Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? New York City
Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel? I am a screenwriter, for me personally, I love writing screenplays. I have an accounting and finance background, and have met loads of unique individuals throughout that process. So I wanted to merge the two worlds.
How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN? It took me probably about 6 weeks to write. I had different ideas, and brainstormed how many acts I wanted in the 10 page pilot, and what sort of journey I wanted to take the character on.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer? I want to sell my screenplay to a studio, and then act as one of the characters.
Was your entry at The Wiki Screenplay Contest a full script or “the first ten pages”? Why did you make that choice? It was a first 10 pages, because I didn’t have the rest written.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show...and why? Back to the future. I love the directing style, and Michael j fox. I absolutely love how that film is written, and I think it has the perfect 3 act structure, and should be studied in film schools world wide.
What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Keep writing. It’s never a finished script. But keep working it, but most importantly, read a lot of scripts. Read old scripts, new scripts, good movies, and even bad movies. Break it down and understand different components that make up a story.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I am currently writing a feature film called Casino Mojo, I have a really good feeling about it.
